Born in 1959 in Nice, Dominique Giaccone nicknamed « DOMMY » starts drawing and painting from a very young age.
He is self taught and his gift for drawing enables him as early as the 1970s to learn the art of lithography at the Villa Thiole (Art School in the City of Nice).
At the age of 12-13 he is fascinated by the Impressionists (Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir…) which give him the “spark” to paint with his first gouaches inspired by the Impressionists or trying to copy them.
In 1974 a journalist discovers his “pencil stroke” and his ability for caricatures: Dommy starts his career as a freelance illustrator for a local newspaper where he occasionally draws whilst continuing his art studies. In 1976 no sooner out of high school a publicity agency employs him as a sketcher-designer. It is at that time that he starts painting his first “canvasses”.
His topics ? Everything he loves …. Provence, Venice and …. music, jazz or rock, portraits of famous singers and musicians.
Artist with several facets, he has created or “redesigned” logos of several companies in the region and in 1987 he draws the engravings for the slot machine tokens of several casinos on the French Riviera.
In 1996 he starts painting his first surrealist paintings such as “Rooted Violins flower-“decked” music notes”.
